Hi all,
Found a great laptop from a re-seller on Ebay. Company has 100% positive feedback and has been established a while, but cannot at the moment take credit card payments over the phone, just via paypal. Problem is, new clients on Paypal are limited to £500 i.e. not enough!
They also accept bank transfers and cheques, but the problem as I understand it is that, if the company were to take the money and run without delivering a product, go bankrupt, etc.. I have no recourse, whereas with a credit card, I'm insured.
Can anyone advise on a alternative method of payment that won't leave me so exposed.
Many thanks!

Too far to collect mate.
Company here
eBay My World - virtualglue
If I were to pay for it vai bank transfer and something did happen, would there be any means of recourse given that this is going to a registered business as opposed to a personal bank account?

They've been about for a while - mainly selling Dell's XPS range of laptops.
They are trading as a "trader" so you are covered by usual "sales of goods" stuff as well as the "distance selling" regs. If you are paying by BACS you can be fairly assured that they are legit.
I'd rather pay by bacs that paypal any day as it's traceable should things go **** up. (assuming it's not a fraudluent bank account which is faitlr unlikely).

Cheers Bill. I have made enquiries about what method of transfer they use, I've used CHAPS before for a private purchase.
