Default DVD Recorder ?

I know its not computer related but thought I might ask:

When I record something a a dvd recorder then take the disc to a friend house to watch,it wont play on his dvd player.

Question is, will the disc i've recorded only play on the dvd recorder that it came of.

Make sure you finalise the disc first, then it should play on any DVD player. You should have an option to do this on your recorder.

It can also depend on the brand of blank dvds you are using. Some are more compatible across different players than others...

I'm having the same problem at the moment. I'm using a Pioneer DVD recorder in video mode onto top brand -R, which have been finalized. Need to do some more research.

My Toshiba player won't play +R's but fine with -R's. I use Verbatim DVD-R and never had a problem. Work OK in my PS2, cheapo Tesco player in the bedroom plus in car too.
