gear box and diff oil

Default gear box and diff oil

i have a 1995 sti i want to do a gear box and diff oil change next weekend but i dont know what oil i need my subaru dealer said i need a specal gear box oil that they can supply at £9.50 a litre and that il need 4 litres?!?!

what id like to know is what oil do i need for both and were is the best place to get it from?

Well walk away from those dealers for a start!
The box takes 4L and the rear diff takes just under 1L.
I have always found castrol syntrax to work well with the Impreza gearbox and it can get rid of nasty synchro crunches.

castrol syntrax all the way,not too expensive either

castrol syntrax do i use that for both the diff and box
also it the front diff seprate to the gear box or is it built in to the gear box ?

Same oil for both. The front diff is inside the gearbox.
