I canīt explain why my car is going as fast as it is! maybe some of you may help me?

I have a Impreza with the Model Code: GC8D48D, and that shoud be a normal 4door MY97. But My car is a pre-facelift, and the heater control and engine-bay looks like the ones up to MY96.

Now to the fun? part, it goes like a rocket! I reach the redline on fith gear! (160+ mph) and I cant find anything modified on it. Yesterday i fitted a boost gauge and it peaks to ~16psi and settles at ~13psi.

No intake, exhaust, bleed valve, chip mods or anything else that I have found.

Not realy a big problem but I woud like to know...

Red line in 5th - BLOODY HELL !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You havnt got any problems

but it must be putting out massive hp to achieve that or the clutch is slipping


Anyone care to comment on what redline in 5th equates to ??

is this a STI BTW

 

Have a quick look at the ECU box - it may be a modded jobby. Prova, Zero, Mines and many other Japanese tuners use the OE box and over-write their own maps on the OE innards.

Sounds pretty amazing to drive!

The model code you've given is the same as a Jap import MY97 WRX, 280PS std according to the SIDC faq (www.sidc.co.uk)

Maybe your car is an import and not EU? or had an engine transplant
