Thumbs down Subaru Proven Warranty Extension

Just got the letter offering to extend it for another year.....£865

Jesus, the car's only got 23k on the clock, seems to run perfect in every way.

You'd have to very unlucky to get a repair bill for that amount within the next 12 months, don't think I'll bother

I've never really seen the need for them, Theres only two really expensive things on a car anyway.

Gearbox and Engine

Ones goner cost about £900 and the other about £2500

Keep the money and spend it when it's needed.

Put money away just in case and join the AA/RAC. Because the car is getting older more stuff will be wear and tear rather than a warranty issue. If you look after your engine/gearbox then everything should be fine for another 20k.

I got mine a while back for my 04 wrx with 21k, again working fine, they wanted best part of £600 for that as far as I remember. Plus it came with compulsory recovery service which you can't opt out of to save money (i'm already with the AA on a family plan). If it would have been half I may have been tempted.

I took it out, and the engine management light came on. I rang the dealership and they said it will cost £29+vat to find-out what it is, and that isn't covered.
Its honestly not worth it IMHO.
