I'm thinking of some exhaust changes on my '00 turbo 5 door, questions are (I already have a WR Sport BB):

1. Does a full de-cat makes the car 'technically' illegal, therefore 'technically' un-insurable?

2. If I keep one cat to keep legal, which one? I'm more interested in torque than power, so my thought is downpipe, but looking at the dyno results a de-cat centre has a good effect too.

Thoughts anyone?

Tim

In answer to the first question, I guess it could, but with a five door if you want to hear what your passenger is saying you don't want a full system anyway,
With regards the second, do the downpipe and forget the centre, first of all, it should still pass an mot, and therefore be legal, and more importantly, changing the downpipe will change the charecter of the car like you won't beleive. It makes it what it should have been when it was made, I don't want to sway your decision as to which one to buiy, as opinions vary, but I've got the Sccobysport one.

Ron,

Thanks, that confirmed what I was thinking.

Scoobysport downpipe was what I was considering, they're fairly local to me.

If I keep the my backbox (WR Sport), the wife might not even notice (she hardly ever drives the car)!

Cheers
Tim

Edited cos grammar my no good is
