Default Clutch????

Hi all, as with a previous post I put my 05 WRX to the local dealer on Fri to find out why i was losing power at the 3500 4000 rpm mark. The dealer says that the clutch is on the way out which I find hard to believe as the car isn't even 2 yrs old yet and only has 21500 miles on it I don,t drive with my foot on the clutch nor do i over use the clutch.

I thought that the clutch was there to assist with gear changes and once gear was changed the clutch wouldn't have any bearing on power delivery to the wheels although I may be completely wrong as my mechanical wisdom is non existent. Since Fri I have driven the car over 500 miles and this problem is now happening all the time ie; sitting at 60 in 5th at 2500 rpm start to accelerate and nothing happens for a couple of seconds then the car over revs and picks up power (similar thing happens in 3rd and 4th as well) . Does anyone have an idea of what is going on any help appreciated

serpently sounds like the clutch!
I assume when you say nothing happens for a few seconds, you mean it doesnt get any FASTER
...and when you say it picks up power you mean it starts to accelerate?

find a steep hill and drive it in 3rd at low/medium revs then boot it...if it revs out without getting any faster then you need a new clutch as the man says

good luck

Right new clutch needed, but surely it should have lasted more than 2 years 21500 miles Not happy at having to spend 500-600 quid on a car that new.

depends if you like to do emergency starts, or thrash it. my last car the wife had a bad habit of holding it on the clutch on junctions, roundabouts everywhere really, after replacement of a clutch to an exedy and flywheel she now uses the handbrake
