I'm just trying to get some advice on my gearbox, i've got a MY96 STI Type RA, The problem only occurs while under heavy load, while changing up enthusiastically from 2nd to 3rd the only why to get the gear to engage without grinding is to wait a second with my foot on the clutch to allow the rev's to drop to under 3k, it's probably just my paranoia but the box doesn't feel as sharp as it did a few months ago. Again it only has a problem over 4k. I imagine it's the starting sign of the gearbox beginning to give up? Thanks Russ

 

Sounds like the synchro is on it's way out. You could try (if you haven't already) some Castrol Syntrax gear oil in there, but you will only be putting off the inevitable.

How much does this cost to have done??? think mines got the same, mine is a mare to get 4th and reverse
