Question

Just taken my MY99 UK car for its first MOT.

It failed on its CO2 emissions. Not sure at what idle speed but the percentage was 9%! I thought with that figure the engine would have not cats, but I've made no mods in that area (I've only changed the backbox).

I've got a week left on the warranty so hopefully this should cover anything.

Has anyone had any past experience with such high CO2 emmissions values, and what was the consequences. Coverage under warranty of any repair, etc?

Cool

Darren

Mine has now passed with flying colours. It was simply that the engine wasn't warmed up enough. I left the car with the dealer and they took it to the MOT station without running it for a bit.

In the end the fast idle dropped to 0.01% CO2, so you can see how rich th cars run when they're cold, and how the cats need to be warmed up.

Hope this is all that is needed to be done for yours to pass.
