4wd vibration at speed

I am a new subaru owner and I love my 1985 GL wagon 4wd turbo all ready! I have noticed that when going hwy speed with the 4wd on it makes a weird vibrating sound thats not there in 2wd.Is this normal?Should 4wd be used at hwy speed? Any info?
