on giving her a run up the motorway i got to 5th gear and after getting to about 5-6k revs the power cuts.. an i mean cuts it sounds/feels like the engine has jumped out the car.
the engine check light comes on and wont rev over 4.5k

ive reset the ecu and shes fine untill you get to 5th gear and go above 5-6k revs.

is this anything to do with it being a fresh import and not having the speedo converter done right ????

the ecu code comes up as a speed sensor fault, code 32 i think.

im unsure of the actual speed it does it at cos i think that the person that imported the car has changed the cover so it says MPH but when i was being followed home after buying it i slowed for a 50mph speed cammera and it showed 50mph on my speedo but the car behind said i was onlt doing sumwere around 35ish.......

 

My speedo is still in kph and i plod around town at 50 which is 30 mph.

 

my car done this and was boost solenoid...mine was a drag spec 94 l reg type ra...cleaned out the hoses and whea hey ! was only under load in top gear ! all then dive...all then dive until i lifted a little and was ok...clean it out ! hope this is it !

surely 5-6k revs is about 112mph???

sounds like speed limiter!

getthe speedo gearbox convertor and you should be fine.

~Sounds more of an overboost problem to me i.e boost solenoid fault. My sub is still resricted to 112mph but when it hits it its quite a smooth cut dont even notice it really, just the engine note changes. Try cleaning boost solenid and pipes and also check oil level is not over full.
