Default No Oil Light

Quicm question, when i had my Defi's fitted by the garage they Left my Oil Light Unpluged in the Engine bay, so dont have a oil light on my Dash now, Is that right?

When is the Normal dash light meant to come on ??When Pressure drops Very Low?

So is my Pressure Gauge doing that job now i take it?

Cheers

Most people fit a "t-piece" and fit the oil pressure switch also,
You can get from here

The original oil pressure light is useless, hence when it's unplugged it doesn't show.

When I fitted my Defi's I asked the same question that unplugging it would show the oikl light on the dash.

Now its just cable tied to one side and the Defi sender does the job.

the oil presure sensor is just behind the alternator, the is a single wire which just plugs on to it.

most garages take out the sensor and put in a hose which links to a sender (sensor) for the guage.

the is nothing wrong with doing this, but the light on the dash doesnt work anymore, thats it.

anyways if your on a mororway and the oil loght comes on, 90% the damage has already been done to the engine, as the standard sensor will only tell you if you have enough presure for engine idling speeds only.
