Default Power loss

This is my first post so I hope someone can help.
I was driving my 99 UK when it developed a load ticking noise and lacked power, it wasn't until I got home that I found that a HT lead had fell out!!
Having replaced this the engine seemed to run smoothly again, however at 2500rpm it no longer boosts as much as it did before. Has the ECU retarded performance to safeguard the engine? and if so how do I get the power back?
I was also wondering if there is any real benefit to having the Ecutek treatment to an otherwise standard car?

sounds like its in safe mode, mine went in to safe mode at the weekend this is what i did

taken from another site so dont shoot me lol, but work for me

According to conventional wisdom, you need to disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes. Reconnect the battery after this time, and then idle the car until the cooling fan cycles at least once to reset the timing maps (approximately 10 minutes). Drive the car as usual.
