Unhappy

Just bought a 95 WRX RA. All seemed fine but now, after giving it some 'stick' I can hear a slight whining from the gearbox when applying power in 1st and 2nd gears. Ease the power and the noise disappears. I expected a bit more noise as the RA has less soundproofing. Is this normal for the close ratio box fitted to this model or do I have cause for concern ??

I cannot comment on an RA exactly. But generally some whine from the transmission isnt a big problem. If it is really noisy then something is probably wrong. If it is just a slight whine it is probably not worth the expense to fix.

Thumbs up

Cheers B

Checking i club 1st gear whine seems a fairly common fault.
No horror stories of major smash ups though !
I can only guess that it's a non critical thrust bearing that's gone down, may take 1000s of miles to become an issue ????

Driving with fingers crossed !
