How many cats to pass MOT
How many cats are needed to pass an MOT on a 2002 WRX?
From my understanding there is a cat in the up-pipe, down-pipe and cat pipe.
If I was to remove the up pipe cat, the downpipe cat and the centre cat, but replace the centre cat for the MOT, would it pass?
If it wouldn't it's probably not worth replacing the up pipe.

It's a Graham Goode one. Didn't have any fitting problems except it didn't have the right boss for the EGT sensor. Not the end of the world I know, but I like everything to be correct. They modded my sensor to fit their boss so it got sorted in the end.
There was no particular reason for getting the GGR one. It was just at the time, my downpipe had knackered up, I needed a new one, I wanted a sports cat and it was the only one around at that time...H&S were six weeks away from their next batch.
Certainly when you're running around normally, it definitely doesn't smell or sound decatted. But the MOT does test for emissions on a cold engine and that's where it falls down. Just glad I've got it in the downpipe and not in the centre section where it would take even longer to get up to temp.
