Default Hks SSQV advice needed

Hi all.

Ive just fitted a a SSQV onto my dads '02 STi PPP.
Is the intercooler bolt on type.

All went on ok, though i had to use a pipe reducer, as the pipe from the inlet manifold was larger than the tube on the DV.

After i fitted it, took it for a drive, but the DV didnt sound.
Looked at the adjusting screw and it wasnt tight and was wound in slightly.
I know your'e not meant to really touch it, but I had to adjust mine on my classic.
So I adjusted the screw anti-clockwise, and still no real change.

Took the DV off and took the cover off to change the insert from the purple to the silver, and also checked it and all seems ok.

Took the car back out and it does now sound, but nothing like mine does. my SSQV is a bit too loud, can hear it miles away.
where as dads isnt really that loud, and only goes off over 4k to 5k.
Seems you have to really give it some, even then its not loud.

anyone got any ideas why its not as loud?

thanks in advance.

Tony
