Default Original Knock Sensor with Detalarm??

I have a 1999 STI & have just bought a Detalarm from Roojai

I was wondering if I can wire it up to the standard knock sensor via a pin out from the ecu? Has anyone else done it this way, does it work?

Also whilst I'm here,

I have a full Blitz NUR Spec R fitted & no other supporting mods. Do I need to worry about detonation? The boost gauge now hits & holds 1.1bar after fitting the Blitz exhaust which used to hit 1bar with the standard exhaust. I fill her up with VPower but dont put octane booster in. This is why I bought a Detalarm really, just in case the Blitz is killing my engine.

Any advice guys?

Thanks in advance.

For anybodys future reference....

The standard knock sensor on a 1999 STI V5 does not work with the detalarm if you splice into the oem sensor via the ECU. The ECU keeps throwing up error code 22 (knock sensor)

You will need the Bosch sensor for the detalarm to work.

Hi,

I dont suppose you noticed on your travels whether this is the same for a 98classic? Thinking about buying one myself. Does the bosch one replace the standard one so you can tee in like you say above?

Cheers

You need the bosch sensor as an additional sensor. There is a threaded hole on the block for the second sensor. Contact me for details on the sensor.

Oh right. So you can leave the original sensor where it is & then wire the Bosch sensor straight into the Detalarm. am I right in thinking Vauxhall will have the Bosch sensor? Also will I need the plug adapter?

Just ordered a Bosch knock sensor & the adapter from my local Bosch parts dealer.

Cost £57.43 inclusive of VAT for both parts.

Gotta pick them up tomorrow.

I pay £35 including VAT for these.

The vauxhall cavalier sensors work and you can get them on ebay for £32 delivered, but still need a connector....

tonymontana, pm me if you can cancel your bosch order and I can save you £22.

Cheers
