If you bounce the back end it will bounce a few times rather than stopping the bounce quick.

Has it got an aftermarket exhaust on it? Reason i ask is that i have the full revolution one on and the back box is so big that occasionally it bangs against the back of the chassis. I've also heard that knackered plastic drop links on the anti roll bar can cause a knocking ??

Hope this helps

Actually the bounce test won't show up a knocking shock - only that it has oil in it.

If it's a newage STi, knocking shocks are common. Older cars aren't affected by this.

Obviously you'd get alot more help if actually state what year and model you have

Hi,
I have an 2004 Sti Type UK which has just covereed 21,000 miles and had both of the rear shock absorbers replaced.

The good news is that if the car is still within the warranty period they are covered so it will not cost you a penny other than the drive to and from the dealer.

Take it in to a dealer who will put it on the ramps and tell you in about 5 mins if that is the problem, then book it in.

Certainly appears to be the norm from others I have spoken with.

Good luck.
