Default 05 wrx lacks power

i have a standard 05 wrx which has developed a flat spot. on accelleration between 4000 and 5000 it looses power, pulls as if the turbo isn't spinning, then as you hit 5000 it pulls as it should. anyone any ideas?
would an ecu reset work and how do you do it?

thanks guys

I take it that this is something new that you haven't noticed before..?

Did you notice after filling up for instance (ie possible bad fuel)..?

You could try resetting ecu and the easiest way is to disconnect the battery neg (10mm spanner) for 30 mins (10min should be enough but leave it longer to make sure).

If this doesn't sort it I suggest you get it to a main dealer presuming your warranty is intact..

Take it to the dealer and ask them to look at the MAF sensor.
