Arrow why is my car only running 0.5 bar of boost?

After doing my heater matrix, ecu reset, fault finder (none), and properly grounding my 94 wrx my car is driving like crap!

I’ve fitted a new boost gauge which states my car is idling at -0.3 bar and the absolute max i can get out of it is 0.5 bar! I don’t really understand boost completely but was informed when I got my Scooby that it was running 1.1 bar.

When i accelerate there is a loud air escaping type noise, or like the dump valve spooling up, but louder! And the dump valve hasn’t got half the pppssssssttt it used to!

From a quick look all the hoses seem to be intact and connected!

Any ideals would be REALLY appreciated

sounds like either dump valve(check with bonnet open anxd rev it see if its shut and stays shut on idle) or that the boost controll solenoid is'nt working and your cars running on actuator only.

i took the dump valve to pieces and re greased the spring, ive not checked it on idle tho,

i also had cleaned the boost solenoid, wouldnt that have come up as a fault when i did the diognostic test?

thanks for your ideas!

I had this on my Sti v3

The rod that goes from the actuator bolted on the turbo housing had come disconnected off the waste gate shaft hidden under the turbo heat shield.

The circlip that held it on had come free.
New circlip on and the car was mapped to 1.6 bar!

Make sure the re-strictor pipe that goes to the waste gate is 100% clean, been having some problems with this myself lately, if there is oil in it wont boost properly.
