From: Croydon - returned to democracy! Yay!!
I may regret asking this, but hell - I'll never meet most of you so if I make an ar*e of myself who cares, right?
1) What the hell is a dump valve and apart from (I believe) making my car sound like Mr Burns' (and no, I don't mean Homer's boss) what else does it do?
2) Do I want one?
3) Will I get any real benefits from an aftermarket (Scoobymania) water spray kit on my incoming WRX?
4) If so, how much of a sod is it to fit?
Thanks.

An after market dump valve is only good for anything over 350hp, I have been told. So yes apart from the noise, which I like, nothing more. I have been told that the stock item can leak though, so an after market one may helpin that situation.
Don't know to much on the waterspray, but I believe it can help, especially if you mod the car or even raise the boost. It will help the engine to not detonate early. In other words it should be able to handle more, before it detonates, than it would without the water spray.
Cheers,
Wrexy.

Water spray is good - it enables a higher charge density, ergo more power.
It is direct water injection that primarily protects against detonation and enables higher boost/more advance.
Dump valves, not essential, unless you are running high boost, however they can be modified to give you different driving characteristics, like holding low levels of boost to keep the car on the boil.

From: Leeds - It was 562.4bhp@28psi on Optimax, How much closer to 600 with race fuel and a bigger turbo?
erm...
isnt a water spray... for spraying through / over the intercooler... and water injection such as erl for making the charge denser?
