hi all

i seem to be using about 500ml of oil between services and wondered if this is excessive.

currently using shell ultra helix fully synth.

does the thinner fully synth need topping up more often than a thicker semi? i do not really drive the car hard all the time but obviously do have my moments.

any thoughts appreciated

pete

My WRX my96 uses no oil between services. It has done 85000 miles and has been run on Mobil 1 Motorsport and Silkolene Pro S.

I've noticed that same on mine.

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall Pete Croney mentioning that it was more a question of the additional heat from the engine 'boiling it down' for want of a better description.
