A friend of mine is torn between the ugly new shape impreza, (although its more refined etc), or the raw edge of the old model? Has anyone got any practical experience of the new model?...or any views on the pros and cons of either car??

Yeah - old shape it is!
Had the choice myself - no refinement for me, (although I did get a P1). Had a go in the new WRX and UK300 for a day each - they just don't give you that scoobydoo grin when you get out of them after a decent drive.
