Yep, 3 or 4 wire M18 thread will be fine.
If you get the 4-wire just attach the 4th wire (ground) to the ground stud under the intercooler on the bulkhead.

Make sure its the same voltage,i had a 4 wire universal one on my 02 bugeye,after less than a week the cel come on,i found out it wasnt the same voltage.In the end i had to get a new one from the Stealers.

Heheh just did a search and found your post!

Ive read that the aftermarket ones arent as good as the correct, but stupidly expensive, Subaru items.
