Default HKS FMIC-Can i keep the bumper support?

Hi,

I've an HKS fmic to fit to my classic. I've noticed that the bumper support bar is normally missing in people's pic's when they've fitted a fmic. Is this necessary or can i keep it and mount the fmic to the bar instead of using the 'L' shaped bracket provided that goes onto the vertical support..?? Also the brackets that the bar is fixed onto will need cut for the pipes. If it is removed whats the best solution for fixing the bumper onto the body securely?

cheers,
Doug.

Doug, I scanned and uploaded the HKS intercooler instruction manual (it's in Japanese, but the pictures are still useful!) here

Cheers Tim. Had a gander at it the other night but wasnt too sure if i could keep the bumper support as you had yours off. Looks like i will. Offered it up today since all the ancil's are off ready for the engine to come out. Think i'll need to get a slightly smaller battery for it though... Was there much cutting of the bumper needed? Any tips appreciated.

Best of luck with the sale btw. Cracking motor!

p.s. Were there any restricions with the induction setup due to the pipework?

Doh, had forgotten I'd already pointed you at my fotopic site.

Loads of cutting of the bumper, best I can suggest is take your time, trial fit everything, don't expect to get it all to fit first time, and if you have access to an air saw use it, avoid Stanley knives...unless you like the sight of your own blood!

Didn't have any problems with my home built induction kit, you can't use the original airbox, and I doubt a CAK would work with the route HKS use for the pipes

lol, got an eye on a dremmel on fleabay just for that reason...

hmmm...i really need a big K+N on the end of the inlet for the horses she'll be putting out. Think there would be sufficient room? Might also cut the wing a bit to get the pipe positioned best...(top tip from Harvey)
