Default Help - knock on take-up

Please help folks!

I'm getting a knock from the transmission when I apply power and when I lift off. It happens even when driving slowly and with small applications of power.

It started about a week ago - the car needs its 40000 mile service in a weeks time and I don't want to get ripped off when I get it done.

Could it be a CV joint? How can I test conclusively?

Any help would be really useful.

Howard - 2001 WRX Bugeye JDM.

I could be wrong but I had a knocking noise from the front area. I thought it may have been the cv joints as everything else looked ok. I removed the arb bushes, greased & refitted them.
No more knocking noises.

I would check engine, gearbox mounts, droplinks/endlinks, arb bushes, cv joint rubber boots for splits etc.
