Default Head gasket failure

One of the head gaskets went in my95 wrx ra , anyone got anyidea of how much this will cost and is it an engine out job ? and i take it you get both done ?

Yep, engine out mate, im not positive but around the £600 area would be a rough guess for a garage to do it. And yes you might as well do both while the engines out. I think the gaskets on thier own only cost about £60.

Check what caused it to go mine was a sticking thermostat these a very cheap to buy and are a replacable component also check if overheated that the pressure relief valve on water pump has not gone these can't be re-set and new pump required . Did mine myself two years ago not too bad of a job remember you will need inlet manifold gasket ,new rocker cover gaskets spark plug seals and bolt seals for both sides , cam seals i also fitted new valve stem seals and reseated the valves , heads might need to be skimmed and if clutch is on its way out put new clutch in whilst all in bits .

used this manual click subaru andd then workshop manual all step by step instructions and torque settings just label everything before you dissconect and remove .good luck
