thought that myself

how the heck is he making that power though ?

i spoke to the tuners, and asked if it was 1 of andy F's hybrid td04's to which they replied, no,totally standard.
it has fmic, bigger injectors, tek 3 etc but didn't think a td04 would push more than 280

Poss you could make this a few factors need to be looked at, did you see the subaru in jap performance, td04 on 95 ron fuel made 310 odd, another large thing is what rolling road you use as you might even get 320 on the standard td04..also there are alot of other points..

Andy F got over 310bhp (measured on Dastek's rolling road) on the std TD04 with just a full decat, headers and a remap in Project WRX If I recall correctly.

You don't see that many going over 280 though. Although I'm sure some RR's would give you a bit more

i read that as well ns04
wasn't that with the hybrid td04 though ?

pretty sure it was , , , agree about RR etc but the 1 it was measured on actually measured mine at the lowest it has ever been lol

i've still managed to talk m8y into changing the turbo though for a td05/18g or vf35

iirc in his final summary of project WRX, Andy claimed 290bhp with the std. TD04 (Sti TMIC, headers & decat), although it did make 310 at Dastek..!

The TD04h made 330/330, TD0516g 350.

IMHO your mate has been to an optimistic dyno and or got lucky with the conversion factors..! Especially with the torque figure..!

Any idea what boost he's running..?

no idea bud , , i've never met him tbh , i saw his car on a local trade stand at a recent show and it had his graph on the bonnet,
i've since chatted to him on a local scoob club forum . . . the tuner also said he made 120+ on 1/4 mile passes lol

which would put him in the mid 11s . he admitted the timing gear was all to cokk and his passes were more like 105, which is 13.0 ish, sounds right to me.
he's hopefully coming to Long Marston with me next time i go, should be interesting as i normally do 12.6 @ 110

just hope he's got the bigger turbo in time lol

No mate, he got above 300bhp on the std Td04 (issue 4, pp36) and 323 lbs ft torque. He then acheived 302bhp 322 ftlbs (issue 5, pp55)

He then changed to experiment with 3 versions of the hybrid Td04 (issue 5, pp 55)

Then onto the Td05.

The headline figures weren't hugely different, but the way the car made the power with the different turbos was.

i remember reading up on it, just couldn't remember which 1 he had on at the time
was an interesting read tbh , i've considered dropping 20 - 30 bhp and going for the hybrid td04 to replace my vf34
i'd be quicker round the track but my quarter miles would suffer so i decided against it .

andy F did visit the bloke who mapped the above mentioned car 3 months ago in plymouth
maybe he gave him some expert advice
