Found this today: quite a shock, not sure if I like it!?

"Nissan Unwraps All-new GT-R

Well, they certainly kept this one quiet! The surprise star of last week's Tokyo Motor Show was Nissan's next-generation GT-R sports car. Only hours before its debut, the company wouldn't confirm its supercar was waiting in the wings.

But with the silver paintwork barely dry, Nissan president Carlos Ghosn unveiled the flagship concept. Rest assured it will be built, and when it hits Europe, probably in two years, will be badged GT-R. The familiar Skyline name won't appear as that's reserved for a four-door model, the 300 GT. That goes on sale in the US next year and should come to Europe in 2003.

As with previous GT-Rs, the latest model has a huge front airdam and grille, plus Ferrari-style tail lights. Other features, including the headlights, are from Nissan's 350Z coupé. The company remained tight-lipped about mechanical details, and there may be a good reason for that.

The GT-R will face tough competition from Japanese rival Honda, which is set to replace the NSX with a new model that may be powered by the hi-tech petrol/electric hybrid system used by the Dual Note car seen in last week's issue.

Rumours are rife that Nissan plans an electrically assisted mechanical set-up for the GT-R, as this would beat Japanese engine output rules by using electric power. Lightweight motors mounted in the wheel hubs will not only increase output, but also aid traction.

On a more conventional note, a company source hinted that in place of the current GT-R's 2.6-litre straight-six, the newcomer will boast a tuned version of the 350Z's 3.5-litre V6 with twin-turbos pumping out more than 400bhp. The computerised four-wheel drive of the current model remains, and a seven-speed CVT gearbox is planned."

Taken from AutoExpress

Cheers,

MS

This ugly-bu66er is in the new GT3/4 extra set of cars, as announced by SONY.

I'll be looking for a nice R34-GTR when the time comes!

Was looking at Blowdog.com and Cem had a link to an article about it. Not sure about the looks. I used to think the R34 looked a bit odd, but this is, well, just plain weird. Kinda funky though.

Hands up who things the bugeye scooby now looks good

It's still not clear whether this *is* the new R35

It is a striking car, and perhaps not the natural evolutions that the R33 + R34 were.

But as mentioned before, at least they've not flucked it up completely like Subaru have.

I like it !! Its kind of retro styling, bit like the Audi TT I guess. Think there's a lot worse cars out there e.g. new WRX with startled rabbit look.

Its that headlight cluster that goes down to the floor of the air dam that spoils it, otherwise I reckon it wouldnt be that bad..

i like it, reminds me of that new cadillac (also v.nice). probably look better in a colour that is n't grey/silver tho - red or metallic blue would make a lot of difference.

IMO they have been going downhill looks wise, since the R33 was introduced. The R32 is still the best looking!

Sorry all, but have to say it looks naff

What is it with Jap car designers lately. As someone always says
"if it aint broke, dont fix it". Why do they insist on messing things around?

The 34, ala Blowdog is awesome. Mean, great stance, smooth. This just looks like.....something, not sure what yet.

Crap IMHO.

Hmm, it looks good but could be better IMHO.

The TT style front arches are excellent, but don't quite blend well enough with the flat arches of the rear.

I think it looks awesome from the front.

Still, each to their own...

I guess it is too bad it was designed/tested in Europe then (team of Eurpean and Japanese designers apparently).

Back to the drawing board for them

Guess they should strike the UK of the export list

I think 400+hp and whatever AWD system they use will win a couple of people over...

Im with JIM THEO

I think it looks better in the pictures at
http://www.geocities.com/nissanskyline_uk/R35.htm

Still looks like a Skyline whereas the car in the AutoExpress picture could be anybodies concept car.
