Default MAF change of type question????

I have a maf with a very large housing which is from a 22b could this be used on a my97uk (standard ecu)??? as my maf has failed i have the adaptor pipe and it is on a k+n induction i fitted it and it was working (engine running well) What im asking is it ok to use this as it is a different maf (thinking the ecu goes by what it reads from the sensor) anyone advise please?????

No, not without a remap. The 97uk ecu is difficult at the best of times to map, so you would need something like an Apexi FC ecu and have it setup with the replacement maf
