Default Piggyback MY01 PPP board on MY03 car?

Would this be compatible with my blob eye?

Would it make much difference?

How much are they worth?

The 01 PPP was a primitive boost clamp, you are really better off going for a ecutek upgrade where they reprogram the ECU with a new map. It costs about £500 - £600 to do it.

Yeah I know that - what I'm asking is will an earlier piggyback board work on a MY03 car?

Reason for asking is that it could be a very cheap way of getting extra power.

I know an Ecutek remap is vastly superior, but is a lot more expensive.

The car has made 243 bhp at Scoobyclinic with a Blitz bb, middle decat, big intercooler and a panel filter...

If I could gain 15-20 bhp from adding the piggyback then I would be happy...if it even fits!!

Surely someone must have had a go!!

The MY01 piggyback board needs the restrictor in the pipe to the soleniod changing.

I don't know if the board would be compatable with the ecu - but it could be a costly mistake if you damage the ecu or your engine!

I don't think there's much chance of damaging the engine, as I am led to believe that the ECU is a lot more sophisticated than people give it credit for.

Granted, if I get it wrong I could fry the ECU...

Doing a bit more research, the piggyback raises boost to 1.2 bar which if my maths are correct is 17.6 psi (the car is running at 14psi at present).

Anyone else any thoughts?

Problem is that if I go for an Ecutek, I might as well do up pipe and a sports cat which makes the costs well over £1k, compared to ??£100 ish for the PPP board. Although if I damage the ECU, I reckon Subaru will charge a lot more than £1k

James, if you have the knowledge, a laptop and a $70 cable you can map it youself with free software.

www.openecu.org

The hard part is the knowledge to map safely, I've got the cable and the laptop but not the knowledge!

Does anyone else think it would be OK?
