Default Swoped inlet and exhaust cams!!!

Hi peps! i've just done something really stupid! i accidently swaped the inlet and exhaust cams on the nearside head, and started the engine!
It was only running on two, after checking everything,i realised what i'd done and almost cried.
Ive put it all back as it should be,garage said that he'd seen this befor and as long as the timing was correct then the valves will be ok.
Trouble is it's still running on two,i've done a compression check and it shows 175psi on one and 125psi on the other cylinder. I thought it should run on three at least with these figures, but doesn't.
I've also been having trouble with the timing,i've had the heads skimmed, and am using triple layer gaskets which seem thinner. Would it be possile to loose 50psi compression due to poor timing? Clutching at straws but cant bare the thought of taking the engine back out!
Anyone experienced anything like this?

Thanks, Tim.

if you mean you have 50psi difference on the same head then it can't be down to the gasket thickness??
or do you mean that the two cylinders on the other side are 175 and the two 'poor' ones are 125 and on the same head??

what timing problems are you haveing?? are you sure you have the belt aligned correctly??

what age/ model car??

The timing is sorted, read a few posts about belt marks being out by a tooth and alls now good. oddly the compresion has come good,175 psi on all cylinders,im putting it down to finger trouble! Put it all back together and it runs like a dream! Looks like i got away with it!

Thanks for your response,Tim.

Just finnished the last couple bits on the engine, took it round the block and my god!!! It has so much pull, even though im only taking it to 3000rpm and it's on standard inlectors and ecu! Much more torque than the 2lt at low revs, can't wait till it's run in so i can see what it is capable of with 740's and power fc!.
