I've got one of these........



.......I need to remove it and re-fit it as it's started to move slightly.

Before I start taking things apart, does anyone know how they are fixed on? Do they use self-tapping screws or does the spoiler have inserts ? - My only real worry is making a mess of the spoiler by twisting out an insert coz it's rusted !!!

I think I can see 4 bolts.

Can anyone confirm how they're stuck to the boot !?

 

If its a copy then its probably just a fibreglass mould, so depends on the favorite method of the bodyshop who fitted it. Probably just self tappers and some sealant.

 

But if they have used tigerseal or sikaflex(?) you might find that it could be a bugger to get off,cos that stuff is like glue.

I don't think theres any glue, at least I really hope not. I'm half tempted just to tighten it down, but the main reason for taking it off was to replace the brake-light LEDs that have burnt out (makes it look cheap n crap).

Fingers crossed for a pi55 easy job.

 

Jesus fooking christ !! I've finally sorted it out and it wasn't fun !!

There were four stubborn screws and a load of sealant.
The people who orignally fitted it did quite a shocking job. I can never understand why bodyshops use sealant to stick spoilers down - surely its only as strong as the paintwork?!

The brakelight was a sod too. The unit was sealed and need carefully cutting open to reveal the pcb with the burnt LEDs. That took some hours to repair reseal etc.

All said and done, looking good but not a fun job. Methinks I'm just gonna buy a new lid and spoiler next time !!!

 

They seal it down so well to prevent wanter getting underneath and rotting the boot lid..

OEM spoilers come with a cut rubber "gasket", but even that doesnt work very well..
