I brought my 95 WRX import back in august 95 and the previous owner had fitted an HKS INDUCTION KIT (the green mushroom type) but still has the original recirc dump valve . Not being very technical myself i have heard and being told that these damage the maf sensor and do not filter crap very well! I do not cover alot of miles in it , only using it at weekends and it runs perfectly.

Do i need to revert back to the standard air box? Any help appreciated.

I know a lot of people who have had these for years, without a single problem. As long as it is fitted securely and not being jolted around, I wouldn't worry.

Mind you, there are a large amount of differing opinions on the matter.
