Default is it worth other than std pads on the back? lowest prices aswell please.

just been told my rear pads will need changing within 2-3k, so a couple of questions

1. is it worth using an upgraded pad as the rears don't do alot (so i've heard)

2. will an upgrade pad make short work of what disc is left?

and lastly can anyone post up some prices (standard and upgrade) please? had a look on stockcars site but can't find what i'm after

If you have upgraded the front braking system, it will help to fit a better performing rear pad.

I eventually got round to fitting the same pad material to the back of my car as the front, once bedded in, i found that the car braked 'flatter'...... ie, the rear were doing more..

Edited to add... ring Alyn at ASPerformance.... 0191, 410 3770

the old chesnut "the rears do nothing" is seriously wrong for a 4wheel drive car, particuarly most Subaru's that i tend to find are underbraked at the rear as std from the factory

Had the same experience as Ron.
Rear pads were from Alyn (Terimex? for a 300ZX) and were about £35 a pair.

1) I've always tried to get the same pad for the front and back. It makes the car more balanced under braking in my experience.
2) It will depend on the pad that you will use. A hard semi-metallic race pad is going to be more agressive on the dics than stock pads. (front or back).

thanks for the advice guys, spot on as usual

when you say underbraked at the rears alyn, do you mean the std pad itself doesn't bite alot or is the bias set up mainly towards the front?

some advice, just been offered some ferodo DS3000 rears, are these race spec? if so will they be a bit too much for my non tracked scooby?

ds3000 will probably be too much for your application............depends on what you have in the front??

the std cars have a front bias which is a little too "forward"...........

So for an MY03 WRX with StopTech 330mm fronts, you would suggest another pad for the rears? Or should i say, could you suggest another pad for the rears? Atm, mine are the original factory fit ones.
I would be tempted to swap them as a test, as atm my braking is awesome, so i would be surprised what difference, if any, other pads would make to the actual braking as a whole.

Mismatching front to rear pads can and does screw up the ABS...if you do the front - you should do the rear. Feel free to experiment to find what compund combinations works best. But I know stock rear and uprated front can give "interesting" results on older Scoobs.

How many people have you talked to who have fiddled with their pads and say their ABS is crap?

Eer, me thinks you are misinformed a little. My front upgrade are StopTechs, and they certainly dont mention upgrading the rears, and they would know. They actually develop and make thier kits so that you can just upgrade the fronts and that is all. Although they do a four wheel kit if you want it.
and as for your last question, i dont
