What sized room for a std pub pool table?
Anybody any ideas on what sized room is required to comfortably play pool on a standard pub sized pool table.......
And anyone got any ideas where to get one from.....
Currently designing an extension and would like a games room.....
Is it possible to sink it into the floor and it rise majestically at the touch of a button thus making the room more usable day to day?
I'm doing some blue sky thinking here!
n.b missus doesnt know about the pool table yet

A pool table is 6ft by 3ft, and your average cue is about 5ft long. You'll want 6 ft either side of the table to leave yourself cueing room for all types of shot. Hence the room needs to be 18ft by 15ft as a minimum I would have thought, before you think about adding chairs or any other furniture.

His wife has told him he needs to get rid of it out of the garage so she can park hers in heh heh
I have a 8ftx4ft prof. snooker table and if you are going to use it with decent sized cues so that you can use them properly then you need a room at least 17ft x 13ft - and this should be dedicated to the table i.e. no other large furniture. I use mine in my games room which is 20ft x 15ft and that is great, plenty of room, and I also have a 2 seater sofa in there..
As for where to get one then ebay is ok, but if i was you i would go to a specialist sport shop or a specialist online pool/snooker website - if you PM me i have a few in my favourites. if you want a decent one then be prepared to spend quite a lot. For a good quality table with decent pockets, cloth and bases you should budget for upwards of £600 - but to get a nice one then around 800-1000 should be where you aim, you will regret spending anything less..
for a standard 6x3 table a roof of around 15x11 will be fine as long as you dont have too much extra in there
PM if you need more info

Brand new 7x4 pub tables on free play go for £600-£800, if you're serious I'll get you some details, if you want cheap go to ebay, loads on there.
If you have the space get a 9ft American table, far superior to the crappy pub game.
