I think what you're talking about is a sound similar to the Rally Cars...?

This you will not achieve, as that sound is not a dump valve (rally cars don't have dump valves) it is actually the boost pressure making the turbo stall/go backwards because they run silly boost pressure!!

As far as i'm aware you can get a straight whoooosh sound, a chattering whooosh sound, or a more aggressive pissst sound with a high pitched whistle...

That the best I can describe it, and it all comes down to trumpet/outlet design of the specific dump valve, and what boost pressure you are puting through it.

Generally speaking larger holes/outlet = deeper whooosh, smaller holes/shapes = higher pitched sounds

I reckon there has to be a good balance of noise between your exhaust and your DV. For example, I had a full de-cat afterburner which was ridiculously noisy and it drowned out the sound of the Bailey DV I had on it. As I understand it (I could b wrong) the blow off valves (BOV)' sare noisier and if your exhaust is noisy, then this may be a better option. Others will slate you for wanting one of these - good luck!!!

I asked scooby clinic how to get the rally car turbo chatter. If i spent a few grand on a full de-cat exhaust system, upgraded air filter, front mounted intercooler and a few other bits and bobs. At least it is possible!

I was looking at a HKS DV for my 94 wrx, but the majority on this site said it was too chavy and can cause fuelling problems.

I love the sound of some DV, especially on the scoobs, but I don't wanna look a chav!

think there should be a POLL on wether a DV is good or not.

Stop caring what some one on a public forum is going to say about your mods, there have been many polls and they have generally been a 50/50 split. If you want a dv, do it! You'll never know until you have had 1st hand experience. I have HKS SSQV and i love it never had any issues , a remap can sort everything out any way

Where did you get your HKS SSQV from?

Will it need a re-map once the DV is fitted, how much does a re-map cost?

I have a HKS SSQV and i think its the best comprimise. On low boost load it gives out a chattering sound and on high boost it gives out a very nice whoosh.
Normally around the £200 mark, got mine off ebay...£120..bargin!!
