Is it a turbo. if so i thought they should have been changed at around 50k mark. have u looked at the service book. but u will take into account an elderly woman is driving, so may be not as bad as some other peoples,,but u should get em checked,,

I have a Turbo with a similar tale.

Missed a service and ......oops......went past the mileage for the next one.

I'm going to get the cam belt changed regardless. It was done at 35K on my car. Low mileage for the first few years of it's life. It was serviced on Monthly schedule, rather than mileage.

I have changed the oil and filter every 3 to 4K and have fitted stuff like brake discs and pads as required, so it's not like the car hasn't had some "looking after"

To be safe, I'd get the cam belt done. And if it's had no oil change for 25K, get it done ASAP. Use good oil too, no cheap sh*t.

The cam belts on a 98 turbo should be done every 45k miles.

Are you saying she hasn't had it serviced since the 52,500 service?

The 60k is a big one since virtually all fluids are changed, gearbox / diff oil etc.

The 90k service is the most expensive since it combines a 45k one (cambelt) and a 30k one (fluids) so I'd advise her to get this done ASAP and remind her the the money she's saved from missing the last 4 services can go towards the huge one looming
