Bought a 52 plate bug eye yesturday-Some advice needed!
Please could you answer the following? Would be a great help cheers!
52-plate wrx with full subaru service history, 14k on the clock, immaculate.
1-Do i HAVE to run it on super unleaded/optimax? Will it damage the car if i dont?
2-Do i need to leave the car running after ive been out in it for a couple of minuites? If so why?
3-Its due its 4th service, but its only done 14k, the warrenty on the car runs out next month, is it important to still get it done at subaru (how much) or would you take it to a cheaper specialist?
By the way the car is ace, i love it, but its just a little too quiet at the mo, being totally standard.
Cheers guys

Hi mate, to answer your questions.
1-Do i HAVE to run it on super unleaded/optimax? Will it damage the car if i dont?
A. No it won't damage the car but it'll feel more responsive if you do run it on SUL (even more so on Optimax).
2-Do i need to leave the car running after ive been out in it for a couple of minuites? If so why?
Only if you've been booting it. If you come back from a blast and just turn the engine off every time it can cause the oil in the turbo to go lumpy (IIRC) and eventually it'll be fooked. If you've been pootling about it's not really required to let it run. I tend to turn the ignition off after I've finished everything else (got the boy out the car, unloaded the shopping, etc.) A good habit to get into.

Main dealers are a rip off and if you're not worried about a warranty you could look elsewhere. Make sure it's a well known, reputable place though, to ensure it doesn't affect your residuals.
Hope this helps.
p.s. Welcome!

It may be cheaper to run the car on SUL anyway. My car gained 3mpg by switching from normal unleaded.
In todays market it costs me £48.45 to put 50 litres of SUl in my tank. For the same amount of normal, it would cost me £45.45 - a difference of £3.
Using normal unleaded, i would get 20mpg so 219.97miles from 50 litres and using SUL i get 23mpg so 252.95 from the same amount of fuel. A difference of 32.98 miles.
The £3 i would save using normal unleaded would buy me 3.3 litres of fuel which equals 14.51 miles therefore making SUL cheaper by 18.47 miles or 77p for every 50 litres

Id suggest the Subaru Service Centre in Sheffield in preference to Scooby Clinic. Jeff and Dean are both factory trained ex-Bentleys technicians and their rates cant be faulted either. I guarantee that theyll do a job at least equal to the local dealers but till be a damned sight cheaper. There will be times when Id recommend Scooby Clinic but this isnt one of them.

Consider a ECUtek remap. I had mine done at Powerstation got 248.9bhp and 330nm with all the cats still fitted running on 97 RON. Uprated the fuel pump and panel filter though.
