Default Older MY's - intercooler fins peeling off

Just a observation for owners of older MY's (eg 93-96) with the sloping intercooler.
Was hoovering the leaves and bugs out of the intercooler today and noticed that the top 1mm or so of many of the thin intercooler fins were 'peeling off'
and when you pulled the loose ones it was like a pulling a loose thread in a woolly jumper and they peeled back further before breaking off

Old age / work hardening / stress 'corrosion' I expect

Rest of the structure seems ok

So worth removing (hoovering) any loose bits before they come off and potentially block the airways

Stephen. I would agree its down to age and stuff (technical term). I have a MY2000 TMIC you could use in its place with a bit of modification for not much dosh? I have brackets and pipes etc...
