I've Bought a Garmin i3 and this is just a short review...

Got it from pcworld for £197 and fitted it to the car in the car park, no need for a manual it was real simple.
In under a minute it got a sat lock and I started using it straight away.
In the 2 weeks I've had the unit is has not let me down at all, the user interface is excellent and the screen is clear, even in bright sunlight.
Turn commands via the speaker are clear and loud and it can run on re-chargeable AA batteries when not powered via the cig lighter, so routes can be added from the comfort of your sofa. It is small enough to be carried around town if needed.

I Downloaded the POI for 'accident blackspots' and added these to the unit via the very simple Garmin software.
For £197 including western europe and ireland maps I think it's a real bargin.

Is the 'accident blackspot' thing speed camera locations ?
If so I will probably get one instead of a tom tom and save £170!

 

got the c320 myself very pleased with it. the poi gives u the choice of loads of things I put speed cameras ans shell garages on mine. the i3 looks like it will do everything the c320 will do for half the price.

 

Sounds good. Have you got a pic of it ?

For under £200 it sounds like a brilliant buy. Is it worth spending any more on one ?

 

The only downside is that its tiny; the screen is very small, but you cant fault the price.

As a possible alternative: Mitac manufacture a PDA with a built in GPS receiver; its supplied OEM to a number of different firms too and it can be bought for about £200+. Even keener on price is an Acer which cost about £200+ including the GPS routing software.....

Sounds good value to me especially if you get the Europe maps included. Do you get a cradle for the car included for this price.

 

Another question... Do you need to buy 128mb memory card to be able to use the Garmin.

Just to answer a few...
It comes with a very good suction mount for the windscreen,
Yep the 'accident blackspots' are camera locations,
And you don't need a memory card it comes with it's own, it's totally plug and play.
