Who should do my remap?
Right, I've got the exhaust parts I need and I've saved enough wonga (just) for a re-map.
Problem is, I don't know who to let loose on my baby. There are always cheap group buys available for around £500 + vat and these are always with well thought of places, but miles away from me.
On the other hand, "the racing line" is within 20 mins from me, but their (advertised) prices seem very high (£650 + vat excluding rolling road time!) and I don't know of anyone who's had a remap there.
SO.
Should I ring TRL and try to barter a (much) cheaper deal or travel further for a cheaper re-map with someone like Powerstation who are offering the lot for £499 + vat at the mo. I could even get Andy F to travel and map it for less than TRL's price.
Don't turn this into a garage slagging thread, just need some views on whether I should travel or trust local please.

Clearly no right or wrong answer to this one! I looked around at prices before had mine done, £650 plus VAT seemed to be a common price point inc RR time, clearly there are cheaper out there..
It's a lot of money whichever way you look at it, need to go with someone you feel you can trust, speak to some mappers, do a search for recomendations here etc.. ideally find someone who you can go back to if you have any problems or want to have it tweaked again later (of course any mapper can do this once you have paid for the initial map), personally I would not want to deal with someone to far away for that reason...

Yet another vote for Bob (BRD) along way for you to travel (Swindon) but well worth it IMO, if it's to far to go Andy F will come to you (but you pay extra) and is one of the most respected mappers about.
another vote for bob, fantastic customer service, and the car is a dream to drive. had fun on the drive back home too.
made a weekend of my trip to brd, took the missus down for a stay in local hotel, she got pampered while I got mapped

I'm booked in at Powerstation on the 31st October
. Everyone I've spoken to who knows them can't recommend them highly enough.
Andy F maps on the road. Bob Rawle gets loads of praise on here but you don't get the rolling road tests.

Bloody Heeeelllll, didn't realise people travelled so much for the re-maps
.
As it happens, I have been given a lead on a remap and I've booked it for the 1st November. Good price, bloke doing it is very highly rated I'm paying for him to come to me. I'm a happy bunny.
Thanks to all those that replied and roll on Nov 1st!

I can't say I haven't used Bob Rawle myself when I first bought the car and had a top service from him but to be fair, looking back, razzing up and down the public roads in (or just after) rush hour traffic was not the best of ideas, so so nearly got caught by plod... not that I minded at the time as I am a bit of a loon anyway.
Now, working for Powerstation I am somewhat less green than I was a few years ago and the controlability, repeatability and safety of doing it all on the rollers for me wins hands down.
I am in the process of learning the ECUTek software in the mapping environment on the rollers and things are in a different league for me now..
