Default Stereo wont accept c.d.

Why wont my machine pull in the cd, wont take it when encouraged either !

Oh...its in my T5 ,standard Volvo stereo ,cant get no answer on the volvo forum, you guys are usually forth coming with info.
Obviously taking it to specialist is the recommended way to go, but not adverse to a wee try myself at anything that is remotely do-able

Not a CD stuck in the slot is there, maybe needs releasing manually??,no reset button?? if not remove the power to the stereo and leave unplugged for a couple of minutes(remove the fuse if unable to unplug), then re-connect power and have another go. Remember if the unit needs a code check you have it before removing power. If this fails then the mechanism for loading/ejecting the CD may be knacked. Also is the radio working OK?? Double check ALL fuses to the radio, there is normally 2, one for permanent +12v and one for ignition controlled +12v.

Cheers for the reply, think the mechanism is at fault, if you push a disc in as far as you can manually and hit eject it does eject the cd. Took the casing off it yesterday, quite smart the actual arms that pull in and push out are driven by a series of tiny cogs almost gearbox like. The fault is in activating these arms when the cd is offered to the slot if you see what i mean .
Maybe take it to a repair shop as the double din unit fits in well with the dash.

Sorry yeah the radio and cassette both work.
