are there any difference between them for making power

I think the earlier ones are better, i.e. square centre section. Having said that I prefered the later ones but you need to modify the throttle sensor.

If you run a link on an early car can you disconnect the ICV thing (re-circulation device)?

93 and early 96 are exactly the same.

MY97 is when they changed (ie anything with a facelift front). The stud pattern is different iirc.

97/98 has same bolt pattern as earlier cars, but smaller plenum. 97/98 is an inlet for a front entry turbo.

99+ has different bolt spacing.
