Question Alpine h/u wiring

I have an Alpine head unit which is rated at 4x60w and needs the live wiring direct to the battery of fusebox?
Does anyone know if the 4x50w or 4x45w Alpine units also need wiring this way or can they be wired into the ISO connector?

thanks

depends if your running amps or not, you can run any from your iso if your running amps due to the fact your not using the inturnal amps, which on any alpine is a good thing as they overheat....

I'm not running other amps just the h/u and changer - the live wire has a label on my current unit saying not to connect behind dashboard but direct to battery or fusebox?

Depends what scoob you have, but i think the iso is only fused at 10 amps. you could use this, but it could blow when the hu is loud.

Your alpine deserves a good power feed, and it's not hard to arrange (some info in the faq).

ps my alpine doesn't overheat

its not in the scoob anymore it now in my ahem.............fabia VRS

i've had many stereos and this Alpine is the only one i've had to wire direct, i think because of the high power amp built in - just want to know if the lower power ones ( 4x50, etc) are the same - if i can just plug them direct to the ISO then i'll get one of them
the stereo i've got now is a few years old so i could do with changing anyway

try it and if it blows, change the fuse and then wire it in properly

For the record my alpine 4x50 is just running off the iso.

4 x 60w should have a direct battery feed. Alphine technical support will confirm.

Direct feeds are not normally as difficult to do as you would think. Have a look and see the routing. Once done you can forget about it, knowing that it's fitted as recommended, with no power issues.

GE90 - i've wired it direct to several other cars i've had, this fabia doesn't have any visable grommets in the bulkhead and i really don't want to drill through again - looks like i'm getting a 4x50w unit then ?

As long as you excercise restraint in the volume setting then why not try your existing one? It will only draw high current when cranked right up.

Or use a fraction of the price of a new HU and get a shop to wire in a decent power feed?

Chances sre the skoda will be the same as most VW/Audi. The have a distribution board behind the dash on the drivers side. You can get a heavy live (8guage) there.
