Coax speakers with separate tweeters?
Swapped the Scoob for a 99 Honda Accord for financial reasons and the stereo is sh*te!
Just been to a local car audio dealer to change the head unit and got a Clarion MP3 one. Asked about changing the speakers saying I fancied components in the front coax in the back. I know thAT components is a much bigger install job and I also had concerns I'd need a separate amp. He specialises in JBL and reckoned for the cheaper ones an amp wouldn't be required (I believe they're about 55W RMS). Then he started going about changing to coaxes front and rear and adding tweeters at a later date.
I really haven't got a clue about car audio so is this a worthwhile way of doing the speaker upgrade or is it as I suspect just a quicker way of getting some money out of me?
If you don't think I'm just being paranoid can you advise of any decent car audio installers close to Tamworth?
Karl.

Ive got some high end coaxials for sale if you'd be interested.
They are A/D/S 346im's.
They have fully rotational and adjustable tweeters which can be angled at you. Cost me £190 last year.
They're brand new and boxed, unused.
£110
Jbl are naff, steer clear.

high frequencies are very directional and easily get absorbed by carpet/seats etc so you want tweeters at ear level ideally or at least pointing towards the drivers head. Coaxials mounted low in the doors won't give a good high-end.

Yeah but what about installing coax speakers then adding the tweeters later on?
I fancied the components to get the treble going the right way but the door speaker should handle mid-range & bass much better shouldn't it?

Good to see reasoned helpful debate on scoobynet is alive and well
As Garycat says, if you're thinking of going for components, jump now as it'll save hassle in the long run. Do it once, and do it right... or something like that
