Just got back off hols,so to beat the jet lag,I thought i'd fit the HU(as it arrived whilst i was away!).OE HU out no probs, drills holes for Forester pocket, lines it all up with new HU,great!!
Plug in Autolead adapter, screw HU in, fecking HU is tooo big to allow the centre console to fit back!!
So option 1-- send HU back and swap for different make, not really an option as I like the HU and I dont fancy waiting another 2 months for it to arrive from Pixmania!
Option 2 --- take file to centre console to make it fit(about 3/4mm to file away). The one i'm going to do!

Has anyone got and would like to sell a spare '05 centre console(with climate) before I try the dealers---ha ha!!

I had the same problem with a Sony Double Din HU. Managed to sandpaper the console to fit in about ten minutes. Just did a small amount at a time and kept checking for a fit. Also check if you can remove any of the HU edging. Our HU had quite a thin decorative surround which save removing about 3mm off the console.

My Sony h/u looked too big but then I realised it was too far forward and wasn't supposed to be flush with the fascia. I moved back about 5mm so it was behind the dash panel but the removeable front still stuck out as it should.

So how long did it actually take from Pixmania ?

I've had one on order since the 1st of September. Marked as 'in stock' all the time, after a few days I called them and it mysteriously moved to 'Pending', where it is now. The second time I called them it was 'technical problems at the warehouse'...

They did agree to refund the so-called '24-hour' delivery charge though, but I'll believe that when I see it.

The Forester pocket with a soft-touch door on it was 13 quid. The totally bare one was about 20 quid ! I went for the silver one with the door, and I've resprayed the door black to match the Forester STi fascia. Just need the HU now...

I ordered mine at the start of August(8th I think) and didn't get it till the 27th August, due to it not actually being sent. When I enquired,i was told it was "what they call a ghost order".I then waited nearly a week for it to arrive again, only to be told that it hadn't been dispatched!!!
I then told them to deliver to my neighbours house,as I was going on vacation to Canada for 3 1/2 weeks, which they said ok to,they then decided that they wouldn't deliver to a different address, informing me via e-mail,the day before we went to Canada!!I then sent them a snotty e-mail back, basically telling them that,if they didnt deliver it to my neighbours house within 3 days,I would be require a full refund with recompense for my time and phone calls etc.
Spookily enough,it was delivered the day after to my neighbours(me and the family having gone to Canada to see family by then!!!)
Still it's fitted now and it's a huge improvement over the stock HU,gonna fit the speakers tomorrow, weather permitting, which should be even better.
Contact Alice Walker @ pixmania,if you have anymore trouble,as she is supposed to be their customer services manager.
