Default Non O/E oil filter - any good.

Are non Subaru oil filters any good? I know lots of you will say steer well clear but I'd like to hear from someone who's actually used one on a scooby.
And is there much of a price diffferencial these days?

It doesn't matter a jot mate who's oil filter you fit. The same goes for the oil as well, as long as the spec is the same as subaru recommend.
dave.

Though there are people on here who will argue that point till the cows come home...

The standard ones are only about £5/£6. so it's not really worth the risk of fitting a cheaper one.

Current price of genuine subaru one is £4.44 + vat anymore than this the dealer is ripping you off, at that price I can't see the point in using a non genuine one. I got charged £6.50 + vat at my dealer for a oil filter on a service I kicked up and they changed the invoice to the correct price (at the time £4.50) they are still ripping people off as someone I know reacently got charged yep you guessed it "£6.50+vat" they have lost my business due to this, I was only going to them because I bought my WR1 from them now I go to my local dealer (Barretts of canterbury) who charge the correct prices for parts.
