Buying an wrx without FSH?
Hi all, beening looking for an impreza wrx 93-95 for about a month and i havnt got round to viewing even one, alot of them sound really ropey to me, like recent imports with no grade sheet, or have been in the country a couple of years but have no service history.... are all these wrx's like that or wot?
is it worth taking the risk?
cheers

Can't really answer your query, but I bought a MY93 import from a dealer with a dubious reputation (but fiendishly quick Skyline).
Did the usual checks I knew about, but to be honest didn't know anything about the turbo side of things, Got a 3 month warranty for piece of mind.
Not sure you'd get a decent history for what I paid (£3900).
that said, I'm pretty pleased - there was a boost problem ,but it only cost 38p to fix.
The fact that it came with a turbo timer appealed, suggesting it had been looked after.
If I was doing it again, I'd either find an importer who can provide history, or get a full inspection. Well worth the money considering potential repair costs.
Worry about the 100 Ron issue, but I really love the car. Never fails to put a smile on my face.
Certainly worth digging on here before purchasing anything, there's some very knowledgable people on here. and me.
Hmm, hindsight!

I think you will struggle to find a car in that age bracket with a good service history given you are talking 10years plus of service histiry there, my advice would be get a uk spec one though, I would and i've owned a jap spec STi.
Going to look at one tonight, its been in the country for 3 months and it sounds really good and standard apart from alloys and mp3 player.... the owner told me that he has had the engine tested and replaced the coil packs and spark plugs it now makes 244 bhp... is this a common problem on wrx's 93??
thanks
thanks
When i purchased mine it came with import sheets stating the grade of car when shipped, also had these little stickers on the inside of the door which i was told are service dates....Don't know how true that is but writing is in Japanese but mileage (KMS)written in english.
I was offered a comprehensive extended warranty and took out 2 yrs for peace of mind.
Came with all the usual Bimta mileage cetificates and dates when it had been sold in Japan to previous owners,Don't know if this is usual but its what i got.
Service was spot on.
Had it 7 months & loved every minute, but fancy a type-r or new age now though...
Bought my car from an importer who lives 5 min away from me,known to be "expensive" but since my car came with the full Veilside bodykit,17" Veilside alloys,Veilside steering wheel & gear ****,Coilovers,FMIC with hard pipes,Blitz boost controller & turbo timer,Blitz BOV,Apexi induction kit,HKS fuel cut defencer, remap,Sparco buckets(now replaced to standard),Alpine CD/MD,Fujitsubo exhaust,.....(cant remember anything else??)i am happy with the price i paid opposed to buying a "basic" WRX import.
Shop around is my advice cos theres hundreds out there & even a £5k budget can get u a decent import these days.
Happy hunting
