I need some help with the following things.

What is the difference between a STi v4 & v5 gearbox?

Is there a dfference between the rear dif's of those two versions?
Would it be possible to combine a v4 gearbox with a v5 rear diff?

you have to be carefull,get the ratio's checked or you'll have the rear trying to overtake the front and the centre diff won't last long either!

it should be stamped on the rear diff housings with ratio if not tage out the drain plug and count the teeth on crown wheel and pinion to be sure.

 

So I rather take gearbox and diff out of the same version.

I want to buy this stuff, so can not look at it.

Will a v5 get on my 98 engine?
I heard there are different mounts to the engine?

 

I think that v5 gearbox is stronger...

 

97\98 g\boxes tend to let go around 300\300 depending on how theyre driven,You can fit the later boxes into yours as long as the diffs are matching,The cases are stronger and theres more fixings on the but no problems matching them up,If i remebember right the starter stud fixing is different on the later box,This site below should help you with ratios...

Casing on ver 4 is 752 and inferior to the 754 on the 5/6.
Bolt holes clamping g/box halves on ver 4 are staggered and on the 5/6 in a straight line. ie the assembly bolts are all the same size on 5/6.
5/6 are all 4.44 O/E.
Need to check on 4ver if it is important to you as some were 4.11.
What is yr trans # eg TY752 XXXXXXXXX
